Piper

"I'm melting! I'm melting!"

Not me. The other me. Um... yeah...

Evil Piper shrieks, a cacophony of screams, as the Mirror Lake water douses her. Her clothes sop off in wet strips as soon as the water soaks through. And soon after her entire body starts to liquefy. It's probably not as gross as it sounds. I mean, it's not exactly pleasant or anything, but it's more like watching a candle burn down, the wax dripping into a liquid, molten mess. Instead of melting into a puddle at the bottom of a candle holder or jar, the wicked witch version of me simply evaporates into nothing as soon as she drips down.

Where once flew a witch, now there's nothing. My hand holds the soaked remnants of the last bit of her shirt before that, too, vanishes into nothingness.

And then, well...

The magical storm simmers low, slowing to a small, gusting halt. Everything that used to be spinning in its vortex seems to stand still for half a second, as if it all might float there forever, never moving. But then gravity catches up and all the things my evil twin sucked up into her tornado start falling to the ground.

Me included. And Dotty. And Toto, too...

Where's Oberon?

It's not like I have time to worry about my new bear shifter companion. I've got a whole mess of other issues to deal with. First and foremost, I'm falling from a height of maybe four or five stories and there's nothing to break my fall. Dotty's careening down with me. Toto looks like the dog version of "If there's a will, there's a way" and it's actually a bit inspiring, but, well, unless there's something he wants to tell me, he's not exactly magical enough to save us all, so...

I close my eyes, ready to meet my inevitable doom. To be fair, it's been awhile in the making. I feel like it should've happened a few minutes ago. I'm sorry, Mom and Dad. I love you. I appreciate everything you've ever done for me. Sorry to Dotty and Toto, too. I probably shouldn't have gone into Ursus Woods today. Definitely shouldn't have gone near Mirror Lake.

Sorry to Oberon, also. I kind of dragged him into this against his will. Yes, he leaped out of the woods to save me, which I'm incredibly grateful for, but after that he could've just left me on my own.

I don't know what I could ever do to repay him for helping me, but if I make it out of this alive, I'll... I'll...

I don't know? What should I do? I've got a little while left, so I might as well spend that time thinking about it.

Here's what I come up with:

I'll bake him a really nice cake. Like, super nice. The nicest cake you've ever seen.

I'll do that whole vet checkup thing for him. Maybe even dress up, you know? Play doctor? Hm.

I'll... I mean, I've never had sex before, and I wasn't exactly planning on just giving it away
